Many of you have taken advantage of confinement to start writing a novel. Not far from one in ten French according to a Harris Interactive survey. Hopefully, those who have come to grips with it have had the good idea to choose the theme "the future belongs to the youth", in order to participate in our "Prix 20 Minutes du roman", which ends this Friday May 15 at 11.59 p.m.
If this is your case, do not wait any longer to register your manuscript on the dedicated platform, in accordance with the regulations which appear online. Since the beginning of January, the writer Maxime Chattam, sponsor of our award and president of his jury, has been providing his writing advice, which we do not hesitate to remind you below.
Among the 420 or so manuscripts already received (we hope to reach the 500 mark by Friday evening), 25% have been selected for first reading and a selection of the 12 best will be made by "Les Nouveaux Auteurs", a group of readers set up by our partner Prisma media.
The jury for the “ 20 Minutes of the Novel Prize”, which includes editorial journalists and readers of the “ 20 Minutes books” platform , will take over this summer to determine the four finalist manuscripts, then the winner including the manuscript will be published at the end of the year.

As many authors as 32 years of average age
For the moment, we have as many authors as authors, while the other writing competitions set up by Prisma Media generally have 90% of candidates. The candidates are also younger than usual: 32 years on average.
Contemporary literature comes first (38%), then fantasy / fantasy / science fiction (24%), youth / teen / young adult (15%), thriller / thriller (13%), adventure (5%) and history ( 5%).
In the Top 5 for now: we have a young adult novel, a contemporary, a thriller, a fantasy and a history ... But all this is before you send your manuscript, by this Friday night. We look forward to it.
