Scientists at the University of Colorado at Boulder have discovered that unhealthy sleep can cause heart health problems, even for those who regularly exercise and exercise and have a healthy lifestyle.

The specialists said that during the seven-year research, they studied the sleep system, genetic data and health indicators for 461,000 people aged 40-69 years who had never had a heart attack.

It has become clear to researchers that people who sleep less than six hours a day are 20% more likely to have a heart attack than those who sleep 6-9 hours. Those who sleep more than nine hours will have this percentage rise to 34%.

The researchers note, that sleep that lasts between 6-9 hours reduces the risk of a heart attack in people genetically susceptible to heart disease by 18%.

Moreover, lack of sleep affects the mucous membrane of the arteries or the lining, as well as the development of inflamed cells in the bone marrow, while prolonged sleep can cause various infections in the body.
