The Spanish municipality of Mijas has banned tourists weighing more than 80 kilograms from riding donkeys in the area, according to the British Daily Mail. The so-called "taxi of donkeys" is commonly used in the city of Mijas and allows visitors to explore its historical and archaeological landmarks on the back of donkeys.

But the spread of videos showing the abuse of donkeys by tourists and residents alike prompted officials to make tough decisions to protect them. These decisions will be implemented from January, according to the website "Duchi Villa". Greece preceded Spain, where in 2018 it decided to ban donkeys from weighing more than 100 kilograms.
