Regarding the deployment of the state-of-the-art stealth fighter "F35B" to the Air Self-Defense Force Nittahara base in Miyazaki Prefecture, the local mayor of Shintomi Town said at the town council on the 6th that "we will proceed with discussions on the premise of acceptance" and accepted. Virtually tolerated.

In July, the Ministry of Defense informed the local government that the Air Self-Defense Force Nittahara Base in Shintomi Town, Miyazaki Prefecture would be the best place to deploy the state-of-the-art stealth fighter "F35B" introduced by the Self-Defense Forces.

Regarding this, Mayor Takatsugu Kojima of Shintomi Town said at the town council on the 6th, "Basically, we would like to proceed with discussions on the premise of acceptance," and virtually accepted the acceptance of the F35B.

Mayor Kojima cited the noise countermeasures that the locals had been seeking before the F35B deployment plan.

The mayor recently suggested that the Ministry of Defense expand the range of housing covered by soundproofing work, but said that if F35B was not accepted, the implementation of measures would be postponed.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the deployment of the F35B to the Nittahara base will begin in the 6th year of Reiwa, and about 20 aircraft will be deployed in the future.

Some of the townspeople are deeply concerned about noise deterioration and accidents, but the briefing session for the mayors of each district by the person in charge of the country has not been held due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

At the town council on the 6th, there was an opinion calling for an early explanation from the members of the Diet to the townspeople.
