It seems that meat and fish coming from the fields will become even more familiar.

A major food manufacturer has developed "alternative seafood" products such as fried white fish made from soybeans.

Nippon Ham, a major food manufacturer headquartered in Osaka, has been holding product briefings for related parties such as retailers since the 31st.

At the briefing session, "alternative seafood" made from plant-derived ingredients such as soybeans was also shown.

Developed are fish fry for home use with the image of white fish and popcorn shrimp for commercial use with the image of shrimp.

Of these, the fish fry for home use reproduces the texture that makes the body unravel by a unique manufacturing method developed over a year, and also reproduces the flavor of fish by using seaweed ingredients.

The company plans to start selling "alternative seafood" products from March, and plans to develop products centered on fish with low catches in the future.

Masayuki Osada, General Manager of the Nippon Ham Marketing Promotion Department, says, "We reproduce the texture by mixing not only soybeans but also various other ingredients. As the depletion of fishery resources continues to become a social issue, we need to find alternative fish. I want to increase the variety and develop new deliciousness."
