Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced that Dubai residents benefit from 2.1 million smart meters for electricity and water in the emirate, as part of the authority's efforts to develop smart and advanced infrastructure in accordance with the highest international standards.

The Authority stated that the number of smart meters doubled from 200 thousand meters in the first phase, which ended in January 2016, to two million and 100 thousand meters currently.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said: “We are working, under the leadership’s directives, to provide an advanced infrastructure for managing facilities and services through smart and interconnected systems that rely on the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution, such as: artificial intelligence, robotic aircraft, and (block) technology. He added, "Smart meters provide many advantages for customers to control their consumption proactively and digitally without referring to the authority, in addition to contributing to transforming Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world."

According to "Dewa", the smart meters allow customers to benefit from the "smart life" initiative launched by the authority, which helps them monitor their consumption independently and independently, as they can log in to their own accounts with the authority through its website and smart application, and follow up on the private dashboard. Customers can monitor their consumption, and identify tariff segments for customers from the residential sector. Customers can also benefit from the initiative by comparing consumption levels for similar homes to help them manage consumption.

In addition, the Data Center for Integrated Solutions (Moro), a subsidiary of DEWA Digital, the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, announced the launch, in cooperation with (EY), of the first information security operations center (OT) in the UAE based on Artificial intelligence in its operational systems.

This new center, which is headquartered in Dubai, follows an advanced security policy supported by next generation technologies, such as Data Lake and artificial intelligence.
