With domestic gasoline and diesel prices soaring to around 2,100 won per liter, the government is considering ways to increase the range of fuel tax cuts.

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance is finally reviewing a plan to increase the rate of fuel tax cut from 30% to 37% by adjusting the tax rate applied to fuel tax under the Transportation Tax Act.

If this happens, the current fuel tax on gasoline will be lowered from 573 won per liter to 57 won per liter to 516 won.

In addition, we are actively reviewing measures to extend the fuel tax cut, which had been temporarily in operation until the end of July, until the end of the year.

It is known that at the earliest tomorrow (19th), at the first emergency economy ministers meeting presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Choo Kyung-ho, plans to further reduce the fuel tax will be announced.

This afternoon, based on the national average selling price, gasoline recorded 2,103 won per liter and diesel 2,111 won per liter, continuing an upward trend for the sixth week in a row.
