While in January 2022, consumer prices would have fallen by nearly 0.8% in Reunion, prices would still have increased by 1.8% over one year in the territory.

The prices of manufactured goods and the food sector were the most impacted by this increase, reports Imazpress.

The prices of fresh products would thus have increased by 3.1% in January 2022, indicated the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee).

A similar increase was observed for tobacco and manufactured goods.

The price of services and energy down

If a fall in the price of consumer goods was recorded in January, it was notably thanks to the fall in the prices of services by 1.6% but also the reduction in the cost of energy by 3.1%.

It should be noted that this increase over the year is less than that observed in France as a whole, excluding Mayotte.

Prices there have indeed increased by 2.9% over the same year.
