According to him, in 2017, banknotes in denominations of 200 and 2,000 rubles entered circulation, which have a modern design and a protective complex at the best world level.
“At the same time, since over the past ten years the banknotes of the 1997 model have not been modernized, it is time to think about how to tighten their security complex and improve the design, increasing them to the level realized in 200- and 2000-ruble bills”, - RIA Novosti cites Alekseev's statement.
He also clarified that next year they will update the design of the 100-ruble banknotes, in 2023 new thousandth and five-thousandth banknotes will appear, in 2024 - 500-ruble notes, and in 2025 - 10- and 50-ruble notes.
Earlier, the head of the Central Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina said that the Central Bank is not considering the possibility of issuing a coin with a face value of 50 rubles or a banknote with a face value of 10 thousand rubles.
