At the same time, the deputy noted that other circumstances are the most significant.

"This is a decrease in the competitiveness of the European economy in principle, especially Germany, which is a large exporter, since an increase in the cost (and, undoubtedly, there will be an increase in the cost of energy resources) will negatively affect the competitiveness of European goods, especially against the background of the strengthening of the euro against the dollar" - explained the parliamentarian.

He added that the second, even more important circumstance is the limitation of not even political, but economic sovereignty of the leading countries of the European Union.

“These are Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy and to some extent Spain.

In my opinion, the weakness that Germany can show in this case will create a precedent that will more and more expand the degree of extraterritorial capabilities of the United States, ”Gutenev said.

The MP said that in this case, Germany is quite capable of not only insisting on earlier decisions to complete this project, but also consolidating the countries of Old (Central) Europe around itself.

“For whom the issue of not cheap energy resources, not a policy towards Russia, but the competitiveness and survival of their own economy as the most important component of the state's independence is being addressed,” he concluded.

Earlier, the Federal Republic of Germany assessed the consequences in the event of abandoning Nord Stream 2.
