Although there was administrative data that could determine the real-time population density of the Itaewon area through the city data system of Seoul, I saw many articles that it was useless due to the lack of safety sensitivity of the authorities.

In September, the Seoul Metropolitan Government launched the Seoul Real-Time City Data Service, which provides real-time population density, road traffic, and public transportation information in major places.

As of this year, the city's budget of 140 million won was invested, and based on this data, it was estimated that 58,000 people gathered in the Itaewon Special Tourist Zone at 10 pm on the 29th, when the accident occurred.

It was pointed out that this data was not used at all to ensure the safety of citizens, although there was a clue to identify the population congestion and take precautionary measures.

In a call with the media, the Seoul Metropolitan Government said, 'The culture and tourism departments use a lot of data. It was meant to be done,' he explained.
