A person in his 60s who made offensive remarks to a neighbor who had a dispute over noise between floors was sentenced to a fine.

Today (31st), Chief Judge Song Jong-sun of the Chuncheon District Court announced that he had sentenced a 68-year-old man accused of child abuse under the Child Welfare Act to a fine of 3 million won.

He also ordered the completion of a 40-hour child abuse treatment program.

On the night of October 1, 2020, Mr. A shouted “Are you going to sleep after giving birth to a disabled person?” with abusive language towards Mr. B and his teenage son, C, who had a conflict due to noise between floors on the balcony of his house. He was brought to trial on charges of emotional abuse.

During the trial, Mr. A denied the charges, saying, "There is no fact that he made derogatory remarks about the disabled, and even if he said such a thing, there was no intention of emotional abuse."

However, in addition to the specific statements of the witnesses, the court ruled on the basis of the fact that the victim had previously stated to the investigative agency that she felt scared several times by Mr. A's words and actions.

"Considering the emotional impact on the minor victim, the guilt was not light and the victim did not forgive him." explained.
