is summarized in an image that remains for history: that of the 14-story towers completely devoured by flames.

Campanar neighborhood

.

In one of these floors, four members of a family died of asphyxiation locked in a bathroom.

They were a young couple and their two children: a two-year-old little boy and a newborn baby, just 15 days old.

They are the first four fatalities confirmed by the Generalitat Emergencies.

"They died of asphyxiation in the bathroom while she was saying goodbye to her mother on the phone," says a neighbor of the complex who knew this family through tears.

"They were talking until the signal went dead."

The mortal remains of this Valencian family were the first spotted by the firefighters' drone late on Thursday, hours after the fire started on one of the middle floors of one of the 14-story buildings, around 5:30 p.m. .

In fact, it was not until this Friday that firefighters were able to access the interior of some homes.

The images from this Friday confirm that the interior of the apartments has been completely destroyed.

Hundreds of families have lost their homes.

In the case of this Valencian family, they tried to save themselves from the flames by locking themselves together in the bathroom, where they apparently tried to protect themselves from the smoke and heat of the flames with wet towels that they placed under the door.

It was in vain, because the firefighters were only able to rescue a couple who managed to hold on for hours on one of the balconies.

The other neighbors who were saved were able to leave the building in the first minutes of the fire, when the fire had not yet devoured the interiors and the stairs were passable.
