The General Directorate of Civil Protection will carry out between October 24 and November 16 in several autonomous communities the

tests of the new system of alerts to the population 'ES-Alert'

, with which the notices will arrive directly to the mobile of the affected citizens for a possible emergency or catastrophe.

Thus, during the test schedule on some mobile phones, a test beep will sound with a message announcing that it is a test and informing the citizen that they do not have to do anything in particular.

The test seeks to ensure that the systems work properly.

ES-Alert technology, known as the reverse 112 system, is integrated into the National Alert Network and allows Civil Protection authorities to send generalized and immediate alert messages to

mobile phones located in an area affected by an emergency or catastrophe.

.

The deployment is part of the measures included in the Plan for Connectivity and Digital Infrastructures and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

The system was deployed on June 21 as a result of collaboration between the Ministries of the Interior and of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and is financed by European recovery funds.

Specifically, the tests will begin on October 24 in the autonomous communities of Cantabria, Andalusia and Asturias;

they will continue on October 27 in Extremadura, the Valencian Community and Galicia;

on November 2 they will take place in Murcia, the Balearic Islands, Madrid, Aragon, Navarra and Catalonia;

on November 10 they will take place in the Basque Country, Castilla y León, Canarias and Ceuta and will conclude on November 16 in Castilla-La Mancha, La Rioja and Melilla.
