An old villa in Yangjeong-dong, Busan.

On the afternoon of the last day of the Chuseok holiday, a woman in her 40s and her teenage daughter B, who lived in this house, were found dead.

It was the youngest son in his teens who was with him in the house who called the police.

[Neighbors: The smell of (briquettes) just came out, so I opened this door, and the kid (youngest son) said, 'Help me.'

I didn't even ring the doorbell and just said 'Help'.]

Traces of fire and extinguishment were found in the room of the deceased Ms. B.

Person A, who died, was registered as a recipient of Basic Living Security in July.

Mr. A is said to have suffered from hardships, raising her teenage daughter and son alone after divorce from her husband last year.

Mr. A, who was unable to sustain her livelihood with only a subsidy for a low-income single-parent family, started receiving her housing allowance from July of this year.

[Busanjin-gu official: If the child is a minor in a low-income single-parent family, each child goes out by 200,000 won.

You applied for livelihood and housing (salary) like this.

But my livelihood didn't apply to me...

Police believe that it is highly likely that Mr. A, who was suffering from hardship, killed his daughter and then took his own life.

However, the neighbors could not hide their sadness in the face of the tragedy that occurred during the holiday, when families should gather and stay warm.
