A man in his 20s who assaulted and killed a fellow man who lived with him for a long time, such as not eating, has been sentenced to a severe sentence.

The 11th Criminal Division of the Daejeon District Court (Chief Judge Park Heon-haeng) announced on the 11th that A (26), who was handed over for murder, was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

The court then sentenced A to 3 years in prison and 5 years of probation for another 40-year-old cohabitant who aided Mr.

Person A lived with Mr. B (age 27 at the time of his death), whom he had known at a construction site since July 2020, on the condition that he share the monthly rent and living expenses.

As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A was abusive, such as not eating food and assaulting Mr. B because he did not like Mr. B's lifestyle, and installed CCTV in the room to monitor Mr. B's behavior.

On December 19 last year, Mr. A assaulted Mr. B dozens of times for secretly eating sweets at his residence in Sejong City, and Mr. B died after being left unconscious for two days.

It was reported that victim B, who was in a state of insufficient nutrition, was 165 cm tall and weighed only 38 kg at the time of death.

It is known that Mr. A was 176 cm tall and weighed 120 kg, and Mr. B was suppressed by Mr. A, who had a much larger physique and could not resist.

The court said, "The defendant assaulted the victim several months before the crime and continued harsh acts, such as not giving food. It is a crime that infringes on the precious value of life, and it is a serious crime that cannot be tolerated regardless of the reason."

“Nevertheless, there is no reflection, such as trying to reduce the crime or claiming that there was no intention to kill, and no measures are taken to recover the damage,” he said. I explained the reasons for the sentencing.
