The forest fire in Uljin, North Gyeongsang Province, has partially spread to the Geumgangsong community in Sogwang-ri, the forestry authorities said.

Choi Byeong-am, head of the Korea Forest Service, held an emergency briefing at the forest fire site command headquarters at 1 p.m. today (8th) and said, "The flame has slightly crossed the ridge of the Sogwang-ri pine community."

There is still a long way to the core area where old cypresses such as 500-year-old pine trees are concentrated, but the forest fire has finally entered the community.

Located in Sogwang-ri, Geumgangsong-myeon, west of Uljin-eup, the Geumgangsong community is home to over 80,000 pine trees that are over 200 years old.
