Toyota produces a record number of cars in January

Toyota Motor said on Wednesday that it plans to produce 800,000 cars worldwide in January, a record number for this month, as it intensifies its efforts to compensate for the halt in production due to a shortage of spare parts.

"We will strive to meet our production expectations of nine million units" for the year ending March 31, the company said in a statement.

The production plan for January represents an increase of 60,000 vehicles compared to the previous year.

The largest car manufacturer in the world in terms of production volume was affected by the shortage of spare parts produced by factories in Malaysia and Vietnam due to the Corona pandemic.

The company said this week that the shortage is forcing it to halt some manufacturing operations in Japan in December, which means a loss of production of 14,000 cars per month.
