Gérald Darmanin wrote that he was giving all his support to the Catholics, and announced that he would be there during the day.
A man introduced himself to the gendarmerie.
It could be the same man who burned down Nantes Cathedral in July 2020.
A priest was the victim of a "dramatic assassination" Monday morning in Vendée announced on Twitter the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, who "brings all (s) on support to Catholics" and must go there at the end of 'afternoon.
"A man presented himself in the middle of the morning to the gendarmerie brigade of Mortagne-sur-Sèvre and said he had killed a clergyman," said a source familiar with the matter.
The man had been placed under judicial supervision as part of the investigation into the fire at Nantes cathedral in July 2020, said this source.
