A man in his 20s was caught by the police who routinely stole a parcel in front of an apartment door while working to deliver a pizza.

The Seoul Dongjak Police Department announced today (11th) that it was arresting and investigating pizza delivery man A on charges of habitual theft on February 26th.

Mr. A is accused of stealing parcel items 18 times while delivering pizza to apartments in Dongjak-gu, Seocho-gu, and Gwanak-gu, Seoul from December 2020 to last month.

After the delivery, Mr. A took the elevator to the top floor of the apartment, went down one floor by one, and concealed the delivery goods placed in the hallway in a pizza delivery bag.

They exploited the fact that non-face-to-face delivery goods were placed at the door of each household due to the corona 19 effect.

There were many victims who misunderstood the loss of the parcel because of the courier's mistake, and Mr. A's crime was not discovered for several months because Mr. A picked and stole only items of the size that could be hidden in the delivery bag.

However, after receiving a report from the residents last month that "the delivery item has disappeared", the police who analyzed the apartment CCTV were suspicious that Mr. A's bag, leaving the building, was noticeably bulging, and began an investigation.

As a result of a police seizure and search of Mr. A's home, about 10 courier boxes were found whose recipients were not Mr. A. In the box, items worth 1 million won were found, from daily necessities to clothes worth 700,000 won.

It is known that Mr. A had a history of imprisonment for theft in the past. He generally admitted the charges by the police and stated to the effect that he was "perpetrated for life." The police are expected to send the case to the prosecution sooner or later.
