The international anti-doping organization Wada decided on December 9 last year to suspend the Russian anti-doping organization Rusada and Russian sports for four years.

The suspension applies to the Olympics, Paralympics and World Cups in the sports that have an agreement with Wada (including all Olympic sports).

Among other things, they were judged to have manipulated data from their laboratory.

Thus, Russian athletes, if they can prove their innocence to doping offenses, are now forced to compete under a neutral flag.

"Turned on all the stones"

Rusada appealed against the suspension to Cas, who today - in a secret location in Lausanne, Switzerland - is beginning his investigation of the case,

"We have turned every stone in our preparations for these interrogations," Wada said in a statement, according to the British BBC.

"Not good for sports"

Rusada is of course hoping for an acquittal from Cas.

- A total suspension is not good for sports in general, and it is not fair for the athletes who have never been involved in any doping investigation, says their spokesperson Marija Markvova.

A decision from Wada is expected later, it is unclear exactly when.
