Five days after the devastating fire in Paris's Notre Dame Cathedral, riots broke out in the French capital during protests by the yellow-voted movement: numerous supporters demonstrated in Paris and other French cities.

By early Saturday afternoon, more than a hundred people had been arrested in the capital, reported the station "France Info", citing authorities. In addition, there were more than 11,000 preventive controls. The demonstrators protested mainly in the east of Paris. There were renewed tensions between security forces and demonstrators, several vehicles went up in flames.

The movement has been on the streets since November against the reform policies of French President Emmanuel Macron. It is the 23rd weekend in a row that followers of the movement demonstrate. Several thousand people participated in the first rally in Paris since the fire of Notre-Dame Cathedral. In the French capital, no protests are allowed around the church and the Champs-Elysées, which were severely damaged by the fire. On the splendor mile it had come again and again to violent riots.

For the Easter weekend, leaders of the fragmented movement had called for protests weeks ago. France had therefore prepared again for serious riots, Interior Minister Christophe Castaner had announced a large security squad. There was anger among some supporters of the movement over the high donations, which came together in a short time for the reconstruction of the cathedral Notre-Dame.
