Poll: Most Americans are dissatisfied with the status quo and believe the U.S. economy is deteriorating

　　China News Service, March 1 (Xinhua) According to the latest poll results released by the polling agency Gallup, immigration has become the issue of greatest concern to the American people for the first time in the past five years.

In addition, more than 60% of the people believe that the U.S. economy is deteriorating, and nearly 80% of the respondents are dissatisfied with the current situation in the United States.

　　This latest result is based on a Gallup survey conducted from February 1 to February 20.

The survey shows that the number of Americans who believe immigration is the most important issue facing the United States (28%) has increased significantly from a month ago (20%), and immigration has surpassed government issues to become the most frequently mentioned issue.

　　In recent months, the number of people crossing the southern border of the United States has hit a record high, reaching a peak of more than 300,000 in December 2023.

The influx of immigrants into American cities has put a strain on local social services.

55% of American adults said that "a large number of illegal immigrants" pose a serious threat to the vital interests of the United States.

　　The survey also said that the job approval rating of the U.S. Congress has dropped to 12%, which may be related to the immigration crisis and the unsuccessful foreign aid plan.

This is also the lowest level since congressional support reached 11% in November 2015.

　　A survey of Americans' economic confidence shows that although overall data has improved, Americans still have far more negative views of the economy than positive ones.

Currently, 26% of U.S. adults describe the current economic situation as very good or good, 32% say it is fair, and 41% says it is poor.

　　When asked whether the economy was getting better or worse, 32% said the economy was improving and 61% said it was deteriorating.

　　Although 32% of people believe that the U.S. economy is improving, the overall sentiment among Americans is still low.

Only 19% of people are satisfied with the current situation in the United States, and a whopping 79% are dissatisfied.
