As RIA Novosti reports with reference to the DPA agency, this was preceded by the frigate’s successful destruction of two drones of the Houthi movement Ansar Allah ruling in northern Yemen.

“A little later, the frigate Gesen unintentionally attacked a drone of an allied country,” the agency quotes the words of the speaker of the German Ministry of Defense, Michael Stempfle.

A representative of the German military department added that the drone was spotted on February 26.

Then the frigate could not identify it and tried to destroy it, but was unable to do so.

The start of the mission of the frigate Hesse in the Red Sea became known on February 25, while the Bundeswehr's plans to send it to the region were reported at the beginning of the month.
