The Palestinian factions sent a message to representatives of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) before their scheduled meeting tomorrow, Thursday, in the Russian capital, Moscow, urging them to form a unified Palestinian leadership and declare a national movement in all arenas to escalate the confrontation with the Israeli occupation.

In the letter, which was issued on Tuesday and signed by the “Follow-up Committee for National and Islamic Forces,” the Palestinian factions said, “Aren’t the blood of more than 130,000 martyrs, wounded and missing, and the groans of 11,000 wounded who cannot be traveled and treated, worthy of a unity of national position in the face of the Zionist occupation and its continuing aggression against our people?” .

She continued, "Doesn't the groans of bereaved mothers and wives, the tears of orphaned children, and the torments of hundreds of thousands of displaced people deserve an end to recognition of the Zionist occupation and its usurping entity, in compliance with the decisions of the Palestinian National and Central Council?"

The letter carried a set of demands that she said - on behalf of the Palestinian people - called on those meeting in Moscow to meet, the most important of which was to work by all means to stop the aggression and war of genocide against Gaza.

The follow-up committee called for developing the Palestine Liberation Organization to ensure the participation of all factions, so that the organization would be the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people with all its components.

It also called for agreeing on a national strategy and a unified leadership based on comprehensive resistance, and working to confront and isolate the occupation.

It urged the activation of this resistance in the West Bank and Jerusalem to confront plans to Judaize and desecrate the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the month of Ramadan.

Government of unity and reconstruction

Finally, the factions called for the formation of a national unity government that would work to quickly rehabilitate and operate the vital and service sectors, unify institutions between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and undertake the shelter and relief of the displaced and the reconstruction of what the occupation destroyed.

The message added that this government must break the siege on the Gaza Strip through communication with various concerned regional and international parties and create conditions for holding comprehensive Palestinian elections.

On February 16, Russia announced that it had invited leaders and representatives of the Palestinian forces to talks in Moscow for three days.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov announced at the time that all representatives of the Palestinians and all political forces that have representatives in various countries - including Syria and Lebanon - and the Fatah movement, represented by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, had been invited.

The meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, comes after the resignation of the Palestinian government two days ago, as Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh said that the next stage requires the formation of a new government that focuses on the issue of national unity and strengthening national authority over the entire territory of Palestine.

The resignation came in light of international demands for a “technocratic government” not linked to the Palestinian factions that would later be responsible for the reconstruction of Gaza.

Since the Al-Aqsa Flood operation carried out by the Palestinian resistance on October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza that left tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and caused an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
