China News Service, The Hague, February 27 (Xinhua) Data released by the Netherlands Central Bureau of Statistics on the 27th show that Dutch tourists will spend more than 49.7 million nights in 2023, setting a record high in Dutch tourist accommodation. Among them, the capital Amsterdam is the most popular among tourists.

  Since overnight stays can bring comprehensive income from catering, accommodation, shopping, leisure and other areas, the economic benefits are most obvious. The number of overnight stays by tourists is a core indicator of tourism statistics for the EU and its member states.

Data show that in 2023, tourists will spend a total of 49.74 million nights in the Netherlands, an increase of 3.74 million nights compared with 2022, an increase of 8.1%.

  Specifically, the number of overnight stays by local tourists in the Netherlands in 2023 will be 29.32 million nights, basically the same as in 2022; the number of overnight stays by international tourists will be 20.42 million nights, an increase of 23% from 2022, becoming the main driving force for the development of the Dutch tourism industry.

  In terms of cities, Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, is the most popular among tourists. The total number of overnight stays by tourists in 2023 will reach 9 million nights, an increase of 21% compared with 2022. International tourists mainly come from the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany.

Rotterdam, Utrecht, The Hague and other cities are also more popular, with the number of overnight stays by tourists in 2023 being higher than in 2022.

  In terms of accommodation type, hotel accommodation accounted for 65%, totaling 32.57 million nights.

Short-term accommodation such as vacation homes accounted for 21%, camping accounted for 11%, and group accommodation accounted for 3%.

  In terms of international tourists, statistics show that 46% of international tourists will choose to stay overnight in Dutch hotels in 2023, mainly from Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and North and South American countries. Among them, German tourists will spend 7.2 million nights, significantly ahead of other countries.
