This is another important result achieved by a Chinese Ministry of Public Security working group that went to Laos to carry out police and law enforcement cooperation and severely crack down on cross-border telecommunications network fraud crimes in accordance with the law.

  Since 2023, many telecom network fraud cases involving huge losses have occurred in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian and other places.

The Ministry of Public Security attaches great importance to this, immediately listed and supervised the handling of relevant cases, organized relevant local public security agencies to conduct in-depth analysis and judgment, and found multiple dens entrenched in Laos to commit cross-border telecom network fraud crimes, and more than a thousand cases of telecom network fraud were colluded.

  In January this year, the Ministry of Public Security sent personnel and police from public security agencies in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Hunan, Guangdong, Chongqing and other places to form a working group and went to Laos to carry out police law enforcement cooperation.

With the strong support and coordination of the Chinese Embassy in Laos, significant progress has been made in the investigation of the case.

On January 21, after mastering the relevant criminal facts and evidence, the working group carried out a joint law enforcement operation with the Lao police to conduct a centralized crackdown on multiple fraud dens in Laos, successfully arresting 154 fraud suspects and seizing the mobile phones involved in the case. There are more than 2,000 units and more than 400 computers.

Subsequently, based on the case clues provided by the working group, the Lao police successively arrested 114 fraud suspects in Vientiane, Luang Prabang and other places in Laos.

Recently, 268 criminal suspects and evidence involved in the case were successfully handed over to China through the Xishuangbanna border port in Yunnan.

Currently, relevant cases are under further investigation.
