An Israeli raid on the village of Mansouri in southern Lebanon (French)

Today, Tuesday, the Lebanese Hezbollah bombed an Israeli strategic base and military headquarters as part of a response to the bombing of the vicinity of the city of Baalbek yesterday, while the Israeli army launched intense raids deep into southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah said - in a statement - that it targeted the Israeli Meron air control base in Jabal Jarmaq in the Upper Galilee with a missile attack in response to the Israeli raid that yesterday targeted its site at a distance of 18 kilometers from the city of Baalbek, which is located in the Bekaa region (eastern Lebanon). Approximately 100 kilometers from the border.

In a statement later, the party announced that it had targeted the base for the second time with anti-armour missiles, which led to part of its equipment being damaged and completely destroyed.

For his part, Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that Hezbollah bombed with dozens of Katyusha rockets the headquarters of the 146th Division in Gatoun, near the Nahariya settlement in northern Israel, and caused direct hits.

Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that 40 rockets were fired from southern Lebanon towards Israeli positions in the Upper Galilee. Israeli Army Radio also reported that dozens of rockets were fired at the Meron area in the Upper Galilee.

In addition to targeting the Meron base and the headquarters of the 146th Division, Hezbollah announced that it had launched attacks on a gathering of Israeli soldiers and military sites off the Lebanese border and in the occupied Shebaa Farms.

Al Jazeera's correspondent also said that missiles were fired in batches from southern Lebanon towards several Israeli sites in the Upper Galilee, noting that sirens sounded repeatedly in the region.

Yesterday, Hezbollah bombed the headquarters of the Israeli army's Golan Division in an initial response to targeting the Baalbek vicinity for the first time since the start of cross-border confrontations last October.

It is considered the most modern spying and surveillance base at distances reaching the Fertile Crescent region and northern #Turkey. What is the importance of the Israeli Meron base, which Hezbollah announced targeting?

Miron rule

The Meron air control base, which Hezbollah targeted today, is located on the top of Mount Jarmaq in the Upper Galilee.

The base is the only management, surveillance and air control center in northern Israel.

Through it, the Israeli army manages air operations towards Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, and the eastern Mediterranean.

The Meron base is considered a major center for electronic jamming and the elite Israeli officers are stationed there.

Intense raids

In exchange for the new attacks by Hezbollah, Israeli aircraft launched a series of intensive raids on several areas deep in southern Lebanon.

Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that Israeli fighters targeted the vicinity of the towns of Al-Bisariya, Jabshit, Al-Mansouri, Al-Haniya, and Aita Al-Shaab.

The reporter added that smoke columns rose from the areas targeted by the air strikes.

Al Jazeera's correspondent also said that Israeli artillery shelling targeted the vicinity of the towns of Yaroun, Markaba and Mays al-Jabal, as well as the areas of Tallet al-Hamamsi and Wadi al-Saluki in southern Lebanon.

For its part, the Israeli army announced that it bombed a Hezbollah military site and infrastructure today in the targeted areas.

Amid the intense clashes between Hezbollah and the Israeli army, Aroldo Lazaro, head of the United Nations mission operating in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL), said that the recent events in southern Lebanon would jeopardize the political solution.

Latharo added - in a statement on the "X" platform - that recent days have witnessed a worrying shift in the exchange of fire on both sides of the Blue Line and an expansion of strikes, which has claimed the lives of a large number of people and caused damage to homes and public infrastructure.

The UN Commander urged all parties concerned to stop hostilities to prevent further escalation, and leave room for a political and diplomatic solution that could restore stability to the region.

Israel threatens to launch a large-scale military operation to remove the party’s fighters from the border if a diplomatic settlement is not reached in this regard.

Hezbollah began clashing with the Israeli occupation forces across the border shortly after the Palestinian resistance launched the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, and the confrontations resulted in deaths on both sides.
