“The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation at the command post heard a report from the commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army on the situation in the army’s area of responsibility and the order of further actions of the association,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
“The 58th Army never failed, both in the battles in the North Caucasus and here.
And so, in general, it is army number one,” Gerasimov said, speaking to the military personnel.
The Chief of the General Staff congratulated them on their well-deserved awards for courage and wished them to return home safe and sound.
“So take care of yourself, good luck to you,” he added.
On February 23, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu presented state awards to the participants of the special operation at the headquarters of the joint group of Russian troops.
