The United Nations Rapporteur on the right to health, Tlaleng Mofokeng, said that the current war waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip is a war between a nuclear state and a people struggling for their freedom.

The UN rapporteur confirmed - in statements to Al Jazeera - that the Israeli war against the health system in Gaza is deliberate, and that starvation has become a weapon in this war.

She also expressed her concern about the situation in Rafah, and said that they have great concerns in this regard, expressing her fears of a disaster in the Strip due to the spread of decomposing bodies and the spread of epidemics.

She added, "What we saw following the International Court of Justice's decision is further escalation."

She stressed that they cannot do anything without an immediate ceasefire, considering that what is happening is "part of a long history of impunity."

Also in the same context, the United Nations Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers, Margaret Satterthwaite, told Al Jazeera that what the world witnessed within a month was that Israel continued the bombing.

She added, "We know that Israel will not implement the precautionary measures of the International Court of Justice," noting that work must be done to restrict Western countries' export of weapons to Israel.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of victims, most of them children and women, according to Palestinian and UN data, which led to Israel appearing before the Court of Justice on charges of committing “genocide.”
