The G7 summit was held online to mark the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Prime Minister Kishida expressed his desire to unite in pushing for sanctions against Russia and support for Ukraine, precisely because the invasion has been prolonged and the situation continues to be difficult.

The summit meeting was called by the country's chairman, Italy, and lasted for about an hour and a half from 12:30 a.m. on the 25th, with President Zelenskiy of Ukraine also participating at the beginning.

Prime Minister Kishida said that because the invasion has been prolonged and the situation continues to be difficult, it is important for the leaders of the G7 = seven major countries to show solidarity with Ukraine, and that it is one of their top priorities this year. I told them that I would like to work with them as a team.

He then explained that at the Council for the Promotion of Economic Reconstruction of Ukraine held in Tokyo on the 19th of this month, more than 50 cooperation documents were exchanged, including on areas such as landmine removal and agricultural reconstruction.

He also announced his intention to impose additional sanctions on Russian individuals and organizations in the future.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the transfer of arms from North Korea to Russia is a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions, and that the use of North Korean ballistic missiles in Ukraine is absolutely unacceptable.

In order to achieve a just and lasting peace, he expressed his desire for the G7 to unite in promoting sanctions against Russia and support for Ukraine.
