Israeli War Council member Benny Gantz described Al Jazeera's coverage of the war on the Gaza Strip as "inflammatory and unbalanced," stressing the need to restrict its broadcast through legal means, as he claimed.

Gantz said, "I believe that Al Jazeera is broadcasting unbalanced, causing incitement, and reporting what is happening without accuracy."

He added, "From a security point of view, its broadcast must be restricted, and the proposal regarding this must be passed through decisions issued by the security establishment, the Israeli government, the war council, and the expanded ministerial council, and not in any other way... This law will be approved as it should be approved," according to him.

This is not the first time that occupation leaders have criticized Al Jazeera's coverage of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

A week after the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the Israeli intelligence service (Mossad) submitted its recommendations to the military and political levels to support the closure of the Al Jazeera television network in Israel, claiming that it “harms the activities of the Israeli army and exposes the fighting forces to danger,” according to what was reported by the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation. Official at the time.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation army has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, which led to the death of more than 29,000 people and the injury of more than 68,000, in addition to the destruction of various cities and the displacement and starvation of the population.

During the war, the occupation army deliberately targeted a number of Al-Jazeera cadres, which led to the martyrdom of fellow photographer Samer Abu Daqqa and the injury of a number of colleagues, led by Wael Al-Dahdouh, director of Al-Jazeera’s office in Gaza, who martyred a number of his family members. Last week, Al-Jazeera correspondent Ismail Abu Omar and his colleague were injured. Photographer Ahmed Matar was hit by an Israeli bombing that targeted them in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.
