It is noted that the country’s legislation states that the use of means of bypassing blocking access to illegal content has been prohibited since February 2020, TASS reports.
“VPN services are classified as such tools if their use does not restrict access to prohibited resources,” the statement says.
The department added that from March 1, a rule will come into force that limits access to materials that popularize such means.
Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Development announced that VPN services that pose a threat to the security of the Internet will be blocked in Russia.
