After joining Paris and Rungis by tractor, the farmers of the Lot-et-Garonne convoy turned around on Friday, and should arrive in Agen this Saturday during the day. But for many, the return to farms does not mark the end of the mobilization.

A week after reaching the capital by tractor, the farmers set off in the opposite direction on the highways of France. Among the most symbolic, the convoy from Lot-et-Garonne, which had joined Rungis at the start of the week, and which returned on Friday morning. Their arrival in Agen is scheduled for this Saturday at the end of the day. In the meantime, after a week of sleeping in the cabins of their tractors, they were given a bed in Limoges that night. They are now continuing their route towards Bergerac.

It was the last stop before returning to their farms. The farmers are escorted by gendarmerie convoys, and more than a hundred people came to welcome them. Among them, Sophie, whose sister and brother-in-law left to defend the peasant cause. The young woman is accompanied by her nephew and niece who have prepared signs with “Bravo mom and dad” and they are impatiently awaiting their return.

“They have the right and the duty to fight for their profession”

"I'm happy to see them arrive and to be with them, to support them and pay tribute to them. Going to Paris by tractor is super long and I'm not a farmer at all, but I've been there all last week with them to support them. I think it's a good cause. They have the right and the duty to fight for their profession. We were also a little worried about the CRS, but that's okay. went very well", smiles Sophie.

For many, the return of the convoy does not mark the end of the mobilization. A general meeting of the Lot-et-Garonne rural coordination is planned in the coming days. And some told Europe 1 that their determination was intact and that they were ready to remobilize if necessary.
