“Three regional departments will be created: Euro-Atlantic, the Department of Asia and Oceania, as well as the Department of Africa, the Middle East and Latin America... Russia will move to the Department of Asia and Oceania,” the department said in a statement.

The Foreign Ministry explained the need for such innovations by geopolitical changes. It is noted that this will not affect the work of the country’s representative offices abroad.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the termination of the agreement between the governments of Russia and Finland on promoting cross-border cooperation.

On January 21, a protest against the closure of Finland’s border with Russia took place in Helsinki.
