It was in September last year that he received the call from Sahlgrenska University Hospital that someone had donated lungs that would suit him.

- They wanted me to come up two hours later. It was a relief and liberation but also a terror before the operation, says Håkan Svensson.

Training at gym

He had a chronic lung disease with constant coughing attacks and was completely powerless.

Now he works out, among other things, at the physiotherapy gym at the hospital twice a week. According to him, he had been told by the doctors that without a transplant he had less than a year to live.

- I feel so incredibly grateful and humbled that there are people who are prepared to donate their organs after their death. They have given me a second chance in life.
