Ahead of the two-year anniversary of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, an event was held in Tokyo's Adachi Ward to encourage the Ukrainian people forced to live in prolonged evacuation through cultural exchange.

This event was planned by Adachi City, which has accepted approximately 70 evacuees from Ukraine and continues to provide support.

Calligraphy handwritten by evacuees was on display at the venue, as well as Motanka dolls, a traditional Ukrainian amulet, for sale.

Motanka dolls are made by wrapping cloth or thread instead of using needles.

Many of the pieces contained wishes for peace, and the Ukrainian people who made them gave explanations to those who visited the venue.

In addition, a group of Yosakoi dancers active in the ward were present at the venue, wearing matching happi costumes and performing dynamic dances and the sound of naruko.

They also had fun dancing Yosakoi with the Ukrainian people who visited the venue.

A 52-year-old woman who has evacuated from Kiev said, ``The future is uncertain, but today was a good opportunity to be positive.'' I felt a little more at ease and felt like I was able to take a step forward."
