French President Emmanuel Macron wants to make up for his state visit to Germany, which was canceled last summer, this year from May 26th to 28th. According to reports, the visit was specifically scheduled for a few days before the European elections in June. It will be the first state visit by a French president to Germany in over 24 years.

With this, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his French counterpart want to send a strong, joint call to the citizens of both countries to take part in the elections to the European Parliament.

According to plans, Macron will take part in the Berlin celebrations for 75 years of the Basic Law on the first day of his visit, which will be celebrated with a democracy festival lasting several days. Macron's trip to Dresden is also being discussed. The Frenchman wanted to visit the Saxon state capital last July.

Dates were also planned at the time in Ludwigsburg, Swabia, and Berlin. At that time, Macron canceled his trip to Germany at short notice due to days of rioting in France. The unrest developed after a teenager was fatally shot during a traffic stop.
