White House head Joe Biden said that former US President Donald Trump will become the Republican Party's candidate in the upcoming presidential elections in the fall of 2024.

Thus, Biden commented on the results of the primary internal party elections - the Republican primaries in the state of New Hampshire, where Trump won.

“It is now clear that the Republican Party will nominate Donald Trump as its candidate.

And I want to tell our country: the most important thing is at stake now.

Our democracy.

Our personal freedoms - from the right to choose to the right to vote.

Our economy, which has recovered better than all others (economies -

) in the world after COVID-19.

“It’s all at stake,” Biden said.

As noted by American media, the campaign headquarters of Democrat Joe Biden expected Trump to defeat his rival Nikki Haley in the fight for the right to represent the Republican Party in the elections.

The Biden campaign website is already selling campaign T-shirts with the slogan “Together we will defeat Trump.

Again".

According to the results of internal party voting in the primaries in New Hampshire on January 23, Trump wins 54.4% of the vote, and Haley - 43.4%.

Earlier, Trump won the Iowa caucuses, where he received 51% of the vote; his closest rival, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, received 21.2% and left the race.

Previously, Republicans former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy dropped out of the race.

Speaking to supporters following the results of the primaries in New Hampshire, Trump expressed confidence that he would become a candidate for the presidency of the United States and also win the election.

He said he wouldn't forget the night as he won New Hampshire for the third time - referring to the 2016, 2020 and 2024 GOP primaries.

“If you win in both (states. -

), then you won’t lose, I’ll say this.

Those who won in Iowa and New Hampshire never lost.

This simply never happened.

And we obviously won’t be the first (to lose. -

).

And I just want to emphasize that according to the polls, we are ahead of everyone by a large margin, we are ahead of Biden by a large margin,” Trump said.

Nikki Haley, the former US permanent representative to the UN, who lost the primaries, congratulated her opponent.

She said she accepts that Trump deserved to win.

However, Haley remained in the race for the right to run for the presidency of the United States and did not announce the withdrawal of her candidacy.

As Nikita Danyuk, deputy director of the Institute of Strategic Studies and Forecasts of RUDN, member of the Public Chamber of Russia, noted in a commentary to RT, despite Trump’s success in two states, the struggle will still continue.

“In New Hampshire, Haley performed better than expected.

Yes, she has no chance against Trump, but she will still continue to participate in the primaries and continue to work out her agenda,” the expert explained.

According to Vladimir Vasiliev, chief researcher at the Institute of the United States and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences, although Trump is a strong rival, to a certain extent his nomination from the Republican Party may benefit Joe Biden.

“A dialectical situation has developed in American politics, where there is unity and struggle of opposites.

The fact is that all of Biden’s election rhetoric is based on a promise to prevent Trump from coming to power in the 2024 elections, which is what supporters of the Democratic Party are very afraid of.

Biden is making it clear to voters and fellow party members that if he was able to defeat Trump once, he can do it again.

Biden's age does not play a role in this case, because Trump is not much younger than him.

Now, if the Republicans nominated a young candidate, it would be more difficult for Biden to explain to fellow party members why he should fight with him in the elections,” the expert explained.

“They create the soil themselves”

Let us remind you that the next presidential elections will take place on November 5, 2024.

Parties participating in the elections must nominate their candidates based on the results of primaries and caucuses, which will take place in the first half of the year.

Primaries are internal party elections that take place in all states; the strongest candidates are selected during the process; the winner will be nominated by the party for election.

Another form of primary is caucuses, where party supporters choose nominees through secret or open voting.

Donald Trump, who served as head of the White House for one term, announced his intention to run in 2024 four years ago, at the end of 2020.

Then the politician disputed the election results, in which Democratic candidate Joe Biden won.

Trump claimed the election was rigged in Biden's favor.

Trump supporters even broke into the Capitol building on January 6, 2021, where on that day Congress was supposed to finally approve the results of the 2020 presidential election.

The protesters were sentenced to imprisonment, and a specially created congressional commission accused Trump himself of promoting the uprising and recommended banning the politician from holding the post of head of state in the future.

In December 2023, the Colorado Supreme Court barred Trump from participating in local primaries for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

The judges cited a law prohibiting rebels from holding senior government positions.

However, all this did not prevent Trump from not only nominating himself, but also becoming a leader in the internal party race for the right to run for president.

At the same time, experts note that the politician has practically not changed his program since the 2016 elections - Trump relies on the same key points.

This is primarily the fight against the flow of illegal migrants to the United States, increasing import tariffs for imported goods to protect American producers, increasing energy production in the United States to reduce their cost for American consumers, etc.

Although Trump and his program had opponents among Republicans in the past, now the party and its supporters are forced to rally around the figure of the ex-president, experts say.

As Nikita Danyuk noted, Republicans are faced with a choice: either accept the fact that power will remain in the hands of Democrats for several more years, or unite around Trump’s strong candidacy.

“Trump is recognizable, and, paradoxically, the attacks and persecution to which he was subjected by the Democratic Party only increased his authority in the eyes of his target audience.

By actively initiating legal proceedings against the ex-president, Democrats are showing that Trump is their only serious rival.

Of course, this also increases his rating,” Danyuk noted.

According to Vladimir Vasiliev, Trump also benefits from the Democrats’ reluctance to adjust their policies - Biden continues to follow the program, the foundations of which were formulated during the presidency of Barack Obama.

It was the active dissatisfaction of many Americans with this policy that brought Trump to the White House in 2017.

Now all the old contradictions in American society have worsened even more.

“Trump is so in demand not even because he himself is an attractive figure, but rather because he is perceived as the opposite of the Obama and Biden administrations.

Many Americans do not like, for example, the Democrats’ emphasis on neo-globalism, when activity in the international arena, thousands of kilometers from US borders, and not internal problems are a priority for the country’s authorities.

The Democrats themselves create the ground for the emergence of politicians like Trump,” the expert concluded.
