“Global factors are complicating the socio-economic situation, resulting in many farmers facing financial difficulties, including the risk of bankruptcy,” Buda writes.

According to him, Romanian farmers are dissatisfied with market prices for grain crops, especially wheat.

More and more producers are losing their farms because they are unable to pay their debts, the parliamentarian noted.

“Production costs per hectare have increased significantly, and grain crops from Ukraine are supplied at very low prices, since fungicides, pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers and diesel fuel are much cheaper there than in the European Union,” the politician added.

Against this background, Buda asked the European Commission whether it is considering the difficulties faced by Romanian farmers and whether it plans to take measures in this regard.

Romanian farmers have repeatedly organized protests.

So, on January 15, they blocked two checkpoints with Ukraine.

A few days earlier, the Romanian Patriotic Farmers' Union organized a tractor protest in Bucharest.

Manufacturers in other European countries also expressed dissatisfaction with the EU's trade policy with Ukraine.

According to experts, many of them lost their income and were forced to go to rallies.
