Unions, immigrant groups and associations called on Wednesday for a day of mobilization through strike movements and rallies on Thursday, the day when the Constitutional Council must make a long-awaited decision on the controversial immigration bill.

"Everyone on strike tomorrow (Thursday) against the abject (Gérald) Darmanin law", notably called on of the right and the National Rally.

The Constitutional Council, referred to by President Emmanuel Macron, must judge the conformity of the text.

"The promulgation of the law by Emmanuel Macron, whatever the 'corrections' made by the Constitutional Council, will be a victory for the racists whose ideas are legitimized", estimated the organization Marche des solidarités, which plans alongside the collective of undocumented immigrants from Paris a gathering at 2 p.m. on Place de la République, in the capital.

At the same time, these organizations called on high school students, students and workers "from all sectors" to walk out and "block the country", to show that "the most difficult jobs" are carried out by immigrants.

Furthermore, around ten unions, including the CGT, as well as several dozen associations and NGOs have called for a rally at 4:00 p.m. in front of the Constitutional Council against a law which "will seriously undermine the rights of exiled people".

The Sages' decision is expected Thursday afternoon.
