Voters go to the polls to cast their ballots in the New Hampshire primary elections (French)

Peace activists called on voters in the United States to write “ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip on ballot papers in the American primary elections, in protest against President Joe Biden’s handling of the war between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

A coalition of local anti-war groups, which called its campaign "Vote Ceasefire", confirmed that this move allows Americans to express their anger at the increasing number of civilian deaths in Gaza.

In a campaign post on the “X” platform, the campaign said, “Over the past three months, the world has watched the deterioration of conditions in the Gaza war, while the Biden administration rejected all demands to call for a ceasefire and an end to American support for Israel.”

She added, "Therefore, we are moving our battle to the field that Democrats care about more than anywhere else... the elections, where Joe Biden will almost certainly win the Democratic nomination later this year, and he must know that the road to getting there will be long and difficult, if "He refused to listen to his constituents."

The organizers of the “Vote Ceasefire” campaign did not clarify the percentage of participation that would constitute a success for the campaign, while its impact is still unclear.

In the same vein, a separate campaign is urging voters to write Biden's name on their ballots in the same way that "Vote Cease" calls for "Ceasefire" to be written on them.

Voters in New Hampshire will choose their preferred candidate in the Republican and Democratic primaries later on Tuesday, but the move is directed at those who want to send a message of condemnation to the White House.

Biden's name itself is not registered on the lists of candidates, after officials in New Hampshire disagreed with the Democratic Party over the voting date.

The result will not affect the nomination of the candidate in any way.

Because the Democratic National Committee deemed the New Hampshire primaries illegal.

Biden is expected to win the Democratic nomination easily.

Campaign volunteer and former Democratic Representative Chris Balk said, "I do this given that more than 80% of Democratic voters support a ceasefire in Gaza, and oppose the continued killing of civilians, men, women, and children in Palestine, using weapons provided by the United States."

But Democratic candidate Marianne Williamson pointed out that the “Vote Ceasefire” campaign achieves nothing to help civilians in Gaza.

In response to the campaign's statements on social media platforms, she said, "The way to actually help bring about a ceasefire is by voting for the candidate who called for this from the beginning."
