China News Service, Beijing, January 23 (Reporter Li Jingze) The recently released "Malaysia Blue Book: Malaysia Development Report (2023)" predicts that in 2023, Malaysia's economic growth rate will be approximately 4.0%.

The Blue Book comprehensively analyzes Malaysia's political, economic, diplomatic, and security situation as well as China-Malaysia relations from the whole of 2022 to the beginning of 2023. It also focuses on topics such as climate change and national security, and the advancement of Malay as the second official language of ASEAN.

The Blue Book believes that the situation in Malaysia will stabilize and improve in 2022.

Politically, Malaysia's complicated political situation has gradually stabilized, which has brought new impetus to the country's development.

Economically, the internal and external environment is gradually improving, and the economy is showing a positive recovery trend. The annual gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate exceeds 8%, and the economic growth rate in 2023 is expected to be approximately 4.0%.

Diplomatically, Malaysia actively deepens cooperation with the United States, Japan, the European Union, Australia and China, expands relations with the Islamic world, and strives to expand diplomatic space.

The Blue Book states that Malaysia is a typical country with multi-ethnic and cultural characteristics, and Malay is its national language and first official language.

For a long time, the Malaysian government has attached great importance to the planning of national language policies to establish and consolidate the status of Malay in its country and is committed to increasing its regional and international influence.

The Blue Book points out that amid the growing threat of climate change, the Malaysian government has actively responded to the issue of climate change and has successively launched a number of climate governance-related policies.

The launch of the 2022 National Energy Policy not only symbolizes Malaysia’s goals in climate governance in the new stage, but also provides broad space for climate governance cooperation between China and Malaysia.
