There are four hunting areas in Gällivare's northernmost municipality and two fishing areas, Urtti and Jiertta, which the Sami village has canceled until May 31.

The area stretches from Pirttijärvi further west, south of Kebnekaise towards Kaitumjaure and Kaisejaure.

Normally, the Sami village keeps the reindeer in the forest this year, but due to grazing conditions, they have taken the reindeer up to the mountains.

- We in our group moved directly up the mountain after the divorce.

Others moved towards the forest, but the reindeer turned around, says Ingemar Blind, chairman of Girja's Sami village.

Girjas: "There are no alternatives"

After the decision in the Supreme Court, the Sámi village has the opportunity to decide on a ban on hunting and fishing in its mountain area.

The reactions within hunting and fishing circles have not been long in coming.

- I have heard that there has been some on social media.

But for us there are no alternatives.

We have nowhere else to go with the reindeer, he says.

Other Sami villages such as Laevas and Gabna have also had to move the reindeer up the mountain.

Here, no decision has been taken as to whether it will be necessary to apply for cancellations for, for example, scooter traffic.

- We'll see how it develops, says Niila Inga, chairman of Laeva's Sami village.
