Mats from Luleå: "If we don't help Ukraine, the war can come to us"

Since the first anti-military demonstration in Luleå, Mats has actively supported Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees in Norrbotten.

He runs a page on Facebook and organizes platforms for meetings between Ukrainian refugees and Swedes.

"Important to remember Ukraine"

When Mats Eliasson found out about the collection of candles in Luleå, he took the first package to Yana Yursa, a Ukrainian refugee in Luleå who is helping to organize the aid.

- It is important that all Swedes continue to remember Ukraine's suffering, says Mats Eliasson.

Growing commitment

When Dennis Bejerdal I Töre found out that one of his employees, Iryna Khoroshun collects candlesticks for Ukraine, he also wanted to help.

- I wrote in our work chat and on Facebook and the Kalix people came and left candles in boxes that we displayed outside the distillery.

Now we have several boxes of candles and they are heavy, he says.
