This statement was made by Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Alexander Dubinsky, suspected of treason and held in a Kiev pre-trial detention center.

“The detention of businessman Mazepa, who should be brought to the Lukyanovsky pre-trial detention center... is the beginning of a larger-scale political cleansing operation,” Dubinsky’s lawyers wrote in his Telegram channel.

According to the deputy, the corresponding detention was made under the authority’s key opponent in parliament, ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

Earlier, a court in Kyiv chose the brother of the head of the investment company Concorde Capital, Igor Mazepa, Yuri, a preventive measure in the form of detention.

Dubinsky also noted that Kyiv is preparing to form a government of national unity.
