Sjöstedt was the leader of the Left Party 2012–2020, member of the Riksdag 2010–2020 and EU parliamentarian 1995–2006.
"The EU election is important for everyone who wants a policy for the climate and secure jobs.
It will be a choice between left and right," says Sjöstedt in the press release.
In second place on the list is Hanna Gedin, who works for the party in the EU Parliament.
She has previously been deputy party secretary.
"We consistently work for a cease-fire in Gaza, and it is a work I want to continue to pursue," says Gedin.
Carolina Gustafsson, Marta Aguirre and Umihama Rasovic, among others, are also on the party's list.
