The report notes that the incident, as a result of which a 14-year-old girl was injured, occurred in a private home.
The department did not specify under what article the case was initiated.
“The head of the department instructed the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Irkutsk Region, Sitnikov, to submit a report on the progress of the investigation of the criminal case,” the Investigative Committee added.
Earlier it was reported that a schoolgirl who was seriously injured as a result of an explosion of a smartphone charger was taken to a hospital in Irkutsk by helicopter.
According to local media, the girl was holding a phone connected to a charger.
The charging unit exploded, damaging part of the wall.
The parents, who were at home at that moment, called an ambulance.
