Britta Marakatt Labba's new book "Sággun máilbmi" is so fresh that she herself has not yet had time to go through the book properly.

- I work a lot with narrative images, with us Sami, storytelling has always been central and therefore it has been important to publish this book.

When I work with my pictures, I think a lot about poems, but I haven't written anything in this book myself.

I have chosen others to do it, explains Britta Marakatt Labba.

Worked on the book for three years

The book contains close to a hundred images from Britta's textile art.

Five different authors have written poems and other texts and all texts are in Northern Sami, Swedish and English.

The work has been going on for three years and she herself feels satisfied with the result.

- I hope it will be well received and I want children to see this book, it is not only for adults but also for children and young people.

My wish would be that more people could tell the oral stories they have heard through pictures, says Britta Marakatt Labba.
