China News Service, Beijing, January 1 (Xinhua) -- On January 16, local time, Tunisian President Saied met with Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the capital Tunis.
Said asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping, expressing his high recognition of President Xi Jinping's philosophy of governance, highly appreciating China's great achievements in promoting modernization, and highly appreciating the fruitful achievements of the 60 years of development and practical cooperation between Tunisia and China. Although Tunisia and China are far apart, they have a strong friendship and close people, and I am grateful to China for its long-term and valuable support to help Tunisia achieve national development and improve people's livelihood. Tunisia will continue to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, learn from China's successful experience, and promote modernization with Tunisian characteristics. The Turkistan side abides by the one-China principle and UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 and supports China's exercise of sovereignty over all of its territory.
Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings to President Saied, saying that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tunisia 60 years ago, bilateral relations have withstood the test of international circumstances and maintained healthy and stable development. Not long ago, the two heads of state exchanged congratulatory messages, pointing out the direction and providing strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations. China also firmly supports Turbulence in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence and national dignity, exploring a development path suited to its own national conditions, and advancing the national reform process independently. We are ready to consolidate political mutual trust, deepen cooperation in various fields, and accelerate our respective development and revitalization.
Wang Yi said that today's world is full of uncertainty and instability, and unilateralism, power politics and hegemonic acts are still rampant. We oppose imposing our own values on others, opposing the transformation of other countries according to our own standards, and opposing interference in internal affairs under the pretext of human rights and democracy, and we stand ready to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with the Turksian side to jointly implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping, and promote an equal and orderly multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization.
Said said that the history of colonialism should not be repeated, and the world cannot return to unipolar hegemony. We oppose double standards and dictating the internal affairs of other countries in the name of democracy and human rights.
